1962年生まれの太郎千恵藏は、ニューヨーク大学シネマスタディーズを卒業し、1991年にニューヨーク・ソーホーのギャラリーでデニス・オッペンハイムらと「見えない身体」展で芸術家としてデビューしました。翌年には「ポスト・ヒューマン」展においてマイク・ケリー、キッペンバーガーらとヨーロッパの5美術館を巡回しました。奈良美智、村上隆らを有した1990年代のネオポップを代表する作家です。近年では2024年に東京国立近代美術館に「戦争(ピンクは血の色)」1996を含む代表作3点が新規収蔵されました。
Taro Chiezo, born in 1962, graduated from New York University’s Cinema Studies program. In 1991, he made his debut as an artist in the exhibition Invisible Body at a gallery in SoHo, New York, alongside Dennis Oppenheim and others. The following year, he participated in the Post-Human exhibition, touring five museums across Europe with artists such as Mike Kelley and Martin Kippenberger. He is recognized as a leading figure of 1990s Neo-Pop, alongside artists like Yoshitomo Nara and Takashi Murakami. In 2024, three of his major works, including War (Pink is the Color of Blood) (1996), were newly acquired by the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.
