10月18日(土)より金沢21世紀美術館で SIDE COREによる展覧会「SIDE CORE：Living road, Living space | 生きている道、生きるための場所」を開催いたします。

本展はストリートカルチャーを「都市の公共空間における表現」にとどめるのではなく、「道路＝異なる場所同士を繋げるもの」と定義するSIDE COREの表現を通じて、ストリートカルチャーが地域をまたぎ、移動や文化の連鎖反応を生み出す表現運動となる可能性を提示するロード・アートの展覧会です。「道や移動」をテーマにした作品を展示するほか、展覧会ゾーンに期間限定で開設される無料のスペースなどを通して、美術館という空間に「別の道」を開いていきます。展示に加え、ゲストアーティストを招聘して期間限定スペースやスケートボード、グラフィティ、音楽イベントなどを取り入れ、美術館に新たな道を切り開きます。多様な価値観が交差する場として、美術館の可能性を探ります。

From Saturday, October 18, SIDE CORE will hold an exhibition at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, titled “SIDE CORE: Living Road, Living Space.”

This exhibition by SIDE CORE presents street culture not merely as an “expression in urban public spaces,” but through a perspective that defines roads as connectors between different places. It explores the potential of street culture to transcend regions, generating movement and cultural chain reactions—a form of “road art.” In addition to exhibiting works centered on the themes of roads and mobility, the exhibition opens “alternative paths” within the museum through a free, temporary space in the exhibition zone. Beyond the displays, guest artists are invited to activate this temporary space with skateboarding, graffiti, music events, and other interventions, creating new pathways within the museum. In doing so, the exhibition examines the museum’s potential as a space where diverse values intersect and interact.

SIDE CORE

SIDE CORE is an artist collective based in Tokyo. Active since 2012, the collective comprises Sakie Takasu, Tohru Matsushita, and Taishi Nishihiro, with Kazunori Harimoto participating as a video director. SIDE CORE focuses on unraveling rules in public spaces, facilitating shifts in thinking, intervening in overlooked spaces, and expanding expression and action through the lens of street culture. Their activities, both indoors and outdoors, center on the theme of “expanding expression in urban spaces.”

2012年より活動を開始、東京都を拠点に活動。メンバーは高須咲恵、松下徹、西広太志。映像ディレクターは播本和宜。個人がいかに都市や公共空間のなかでメッセージを発するかという問いのもと、ストリートカルチャーの思想や歴史などを参照し制作する。ときに他ジャンルの表現者を交えたプロジェクトとして、都市の死角や隙間となる場所で多彩な作品を展開。
