登曼波｜Manbo Key

1986年台中生まれ。台北を拠点に活動する台湾の写真家・アーティスト。2008年に大葉大学グラフィックデザイン学科卒業。映画美術に携わりながら写真への興味を持ち、写真家の道へ。マンボウの創作プロセスには、写真家と被写体との親密な関係や、被写体や日常生活の光景の観察が含まれる。マンボウのレンズが捉えた人物や空間は、傍観者の冷静で遠い視点に対する直接的なメタファーである。 作家は映像プロジェクトに参加し、さまざまな映像表現方法を模索しており、プロジェクト作品ではジェンダーやアイデンティティの方向性に焦点が当てられている。

写真家としては「Vogue Taiwan」「GQ Taiwan」「marie claire」などのファッション、広告、多数のセレブリティのプロジェ クトに携わる。日本の著名人では、渡辺直美氏、小松菜奈氏などを撮影。アーティストとしては台北市立美術館で開催された 2019 年「父親的錄影帶 | Father’s Videotapes」をはじめ、活動範囲を香港、ベルリン、東京へ広げている。

Born in Taichung in 1986, he is a Taiwanese photographer and artist based in Taipei. He graduated from the Department of Graphic Design at Dayeh University in 2008. While working in film art, he developed an interest in photography and pursued a career as a photographer. His creative process involves an intimate relationship between the photographer and the subject, as well as observations of the subject and everyday scenes. The people and spaces captured through his lens serve as a direct metaphor for the detached and distant perspective of an onlooker. As an artist, he participates in video projects, exploring various methods of visual expression, focusing on themes of gender and identity in his project works.

As a photographer, he has worked on fashion, advertising, and numerous celebrity projects for “Vogue Taiwan,” “GQ Taiwan,” “marie claire,” and others. He has photographed notable Japanese celebrities such as Naomi Watanabe and Nana Komatsu. As an artist, he has expanded his activities to Hong Kong, Berlin, and Tokyo. In 2019, Father’s Videotapes won the Grand Prize at the Taipei Art Awards. An extension of that series, Father’s Videotapes _Avoid A Void was shortlisted for the Taishin Arts Award in 2021. The third iteration, Diverse identities_Father’s Videotapes, this most recent series was produced in 2022 with a refocus on his hometown and showcased in the Taiwanese-Lithuanian cultural exchange group exhibition Covered Reality: Archival Orientation and Identity in Taiwanese Contemporary Photography.
