10月10日（土）までKeteleer Galleryにて、横山奈美のヨーロッパ初個展「Dear someone, somewhere」を開催いたしております。Keteleer Galleryに所属後初となる本展では、完全新作の油彩画、ブロンズ彫刻、ドローイング作品を展示しております。
あなたと私、そしてどこか遠くにいる「誰か」の存在を感じることができるだろうか？
他者の存在をより深く実感できれば、お互いに傷つけ合うことは不可能になるという信念のもと、横山は「存在を伝える」という行為を追求しています。
会期最初の1週間にはギャラリー内で毎日3時間のライブパフォーマンスを行います。草の上に横たわる自身の姿を描いたドローイングを、毎日再追想しながら、1日1枚新たなドローイング描きます。複製を試みているにもかかわらず、それぞれのドローイングには必然的にわずかな変化が生まれます。これは横山が長年にわたり繰り返し行ってきたパフォーマンスであり、特別ではない自分自身を明日へと運ぶ行為を象徴しています。
「親愛なる、どこかの誰かへ」。横山の呼びかけは、距離や違いを超えて、あなた、私、そしてまだ見ぬ「誰か」をつなぐ対話への招待状です。

The European debut exhibition of Nami Yokoyama, “Dear someone, somewhere” is on view at Keteleer Gallery until Saturday, October 10.
Yokoyama’s first solo exhibition since joining the gallery consists of an entirely new series of oil paintings, bronze sculptures and works on paper.
Can I truly feel the presence of you, of me, and of someone far away?
This question anchors the first solo exhibition by Japanese artist Nami Yokoyama at Keteleer Gallery. Driven by the conviction that a deeper sense of another’s existence would make it impossible to cause one another harm, Yokoyama pursues what she calls the act of “Delivering Presence.”
Throughout the first week of the exhibition, the artist will perform live in the gallery for three hours each day. Drawing herself lying on the grass, she will create one new copy of the same image each day, carefully retracing its lines. Despite her efforts at exact repetition, each drawing inevitably differs, changing subtly over the course of the week. This is a performance she has returned to repeatedly over the years, symbolizing the act of carrying her own unremarkable self into tomorrow.
Dear someone, somewhere. Yokoyama’s call is an invitation to dialogue — across distance, across difference — connecting you, me, and someone yet to be seen.

横山奈美｜Nami Yokoyama
横山 奈美（1986年、岐阜生まれ）2012年愛知県立芸術大学大学院美術研究科油画領域修了。同大学で准教授を務める。日常の「見えない存在」に光を当て、精緻な油彩技法で描く作品で知られる。生活の中で消費され捨てられる物を描く《The first object》シリーズや、ネオンをモチーフにガラス管や背後に存在する配電線、フレームまで克明に描く《ネオン》シリーズなど。近年では、出会った人々に書いてもらった筆跡をネオン管で再現し、画面に描く《Shape of Your Words》を制作している。ものを見て描くという行為を通し、人やものに与えられた役割や制度を再考している。

Nami Yokoyama (b. 1986, Gifu) completed her MFA in Oil Painting at Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts in 2012. She currently serves as an Associate Professor at the same university. She is known for works painted with meticulous oil painting techniques to shed light on the “invisible existences” of everyday life. Her practice includes The first object series, which depicts items consumed and discarded in everyday life, and the Neon series, in which she vividly renders neon signs down to the details of glass tubes, wiring, and frames that exist behind them. In recent years, she has been producing Shape of Your Words, a series in which she recreates the handwriting of people she has encountered using neon tubes and translates them onto the canvas. Through the act of observing and painting, she re-examines the roles and systems imposed upon people and objects.
