Currently, three major works by Taro Chiezo , including War (Pink is Color of Blood) (1996) which has been newly acquired by the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo are on view at museum as part of a special presentation titled First Neo-Pop Era - Artists’ Dark Tourism in Room 12 of the MOMAT Collection Exhibition (February 11 to June 15, 2025). Taro’s War (Pink is Color of Blood) engages with the historical context of wartime paintings such as Tsuguharu Foujita’s Final Fighting on Attu and The Fierce Fighting of Guadalcanal, both on permanent loan to the museum. His work reinterprets the war painting genre through a postmodern lens, reflecting on the age of mechanical reproduction.
